Design and synthesis of heterocyclic analogues of mycophenolic acid as potential chemotherapeutic agents

A series of heterocyclic analogues 3–10 of mycophenolic acid were designed as metabolically stable congeners possibly targeted for inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase. The synthesis, cytotoxic and anti-HIV activity of these compounds are described.
