Abstract :
4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation and hydroxylation of α-ketoisocaproate 1 to β-hydroxyisovalerate 2 with retention of configuration during the hydroxylation step (Scheme 1).
