Abstract :
An oxovanadium complex of quercetin (2), exhibits highly potent insulin-enhancing activity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. It also mimics mitogenic potential of insulin as evaluated by [H3]thymidine uptake assay making an effective, orally active insulin-enhancing agent for the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes without any noticeable toxic effects.
