Abstract :
A variety of Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines were oxidized to the corresponding pyridines in high yields in the presence of H6PMo9V3O40, a Keggin type heteropolyacid, in refluxing acetic acid. The heteropolyacid was found to be reusable.
