Repeated coronary emboli in a young female with mild mitral stenosis in sinus rhythm

A 23-year-old female presented with two episodes, 4 years apart, of acute chest pain and on both occasions with inferior ST elevation suggestive of acute inferior MI. She was found to have mild mitral stenosis and was in sinus rhythm. We believe that recurrent coronary embolisms were responsible and that this should be considered especially in trying to define the cause of MI in young females.
