Characteristic numbers from 2-cocycles on formal groups

We give explicit polynomial generators for the homology rings of BSU and BSpin for complex oriented theories. Using these we are able to provide an alternative proof of the result of Hopkins et al. for symmetric 2-cocycles on formal group laws.
