Projectively normal involutive curves

The best invariant of a non-trivial module over A2, the second Weyl Algebra, is its characteristic variety in image. This is either a curve, a surface, or all of image. It is known that image and all surfaces arise as characteristic varieties, but it is not known which curves do. We show that a projectively normal curve which is a characteristic variety has genus 0.
