Topological degree and quadratic forms Original Research Article

The paper presents methods of computing the topological degree, and other related topological invariants, for real polynomial mappings. There is also introduced a new topological invariant, similar to the topological degree (mod 2), for mappings on algebraic sets. There are given explicit formulas for these invariants in terms of signatures, and determinants, of bilinear symmetric forms on polynomial factor algebras.
