Factorization of matrices into quadratic ones. III Original Research Article

It is shown that every complex n × n matrix T is the product of four quadratic matrices. Moreover, if T is invertible, then the number of required quadratic matrices can be reduced to three, and three is sharp for n ≥ 4. Complex matrices which are expressible as the product of an idempotent and an invertible quadratic matrix are also characterized.
