Abstract :
Let n > 3, and χ be an irreducible nonlinear character of Sn. We describe the set imageχ consisting of those permutations varrho set membership, variant Sn for which there exists a matrix C set membership, variant Mn(D) such that, for all π set membership, variant Sn, χ(π)πni = 1 ciπ(i) = χ(πvarrho). As a consequence we get an improvement of a theorem due to Duffner.
