Abstract :
In this paper we address all of the potential risks to the environment of applying genetically modified organisms in agriculture. In the past 10 years during 1996-2007 in the world, commercially grown genetically modified crops have increased by more than 80-fold to 122 million hectares. The numbers of producing countries are doubled. Especially in developing countries, in the field of genetically modified crops is expected to increase rapidly in coming years. This is despite the high rate of adoption and promise for the future; there are many concerns about the impact of GM crops on the environment. There is a strong movement of opposition to GMOs in many countries; especially in Europe. Scientists are trying to clarify the various factors that led to the strong opposition of such genetically modified organisms at this stage of development in Europe. Also address in detail the loss of biologically diverse, defending in turn lead to the loss of the natural balance of the world as well as potential gene escape and super weeds, impacts on “non target” species, Insecticide resistance and the potential risks to the human health.
