Abstract
The development of texture in barium hexaferrite
by templated grain growth was studied as a function
of the Fe2O3/BaCO3 ratio, B2O3 additions in the starting
materials, and sintering temperature. A magnetic field was
used to orient the template particles during the gelcasting
process. Excess BaCO3 resulted in abnormal grain growth
and maximized texture, while B2O3 additions promoted
coarsening, but no abnormal grain growth
