Synthesis of benzhydrol derivatives by metal imidozalen catalysed electrophilic addition of aromatic aldehyde to hydrocarbons under solvothermal condition

Salen metal complexes act as good catalysts for reactions in homogenised, heterogenised and heterogenised- homogeneous conditions. A simple method for the synthesis of benzhydrol derivatives is proposed using anisole and substituted benzaldehydes in the presence of a salen metal catalyst at high temperature and pressure using Morey autoclave. The compounds were isolated in good yield and were characterized by spectral and analytical methods.
