Computer Inventory of the Soil Cover

New GIS-based principles of making inventory of information concerning the soil cover at different generalization levels are suggested. The approaches described in the article are regarded as developments of the traditional methods of soil mapping. The application of these principles makes it possible to create a system of collecting, storing, and processing information on soil resources at a national level.
