Abstract :
A new three-dimensional rare earth-mixed carboxylate dimer supramolecular network [Y2(DNBA)2(OAc)2(DMF)6][Mo6O19] (DNBA ¼ 3,5-dinitrobenzoate, OAc ¼ acetate, DMF ¼ dimethylfomamide) was synthesized in a mixed solvent system by using the spherical Lindquist type polyoxometalate, Mo6O19 22, as a non-coordinating anionic template. X-ray diffraction experiments reveal that two Y(III) ions are bridged by two 3,5-dinitrobenzoate anions and two acetate anions as asymmetrically bridging ligands, leading to dimeric cores, [Y2(DNBA)2(OAc)2(DMF)6]2þ; [Y2(DNBA)2(OAc)2(DMF)6]2þgroups are joined together by p–p stacking interaction between the aromatic groups and hydrogen bonding interaction between Mo6O19 22 and [Y2(DNBA)2(OAc)2(DMF)6]2þto form a two-dimensional gridlike framework; the 2D supramolecular layers are further extended into 3D supramolecular network with a 1D box-like channels by hydrogen bonding interaction, in which hexamolybdate polyanions reside. q 2003 Elsevier B.V.
