Abstract
Two novel lanthanide polymeric complexes, [Nd2(ip)3(H2O)2]n (1) and [Gd2(ip)3(H2O)2]n (2) (ip ¼ isophthalate) have been obtained by
hydrothermal synthetic method. Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that they are isostructural polymers and comprise two-dimensional
wave-like layers, in which Ln(III) ions are seven- and eight-coordinated and linked by ip ligands resulting in right- and left-handed helical
chains. The wave-like layers are stacked with each other via hydrogen bonds to generate three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.
