Abstract :
To describe the polarized spectrum of molecular light scattering in water a modified hydrodynamic approach [J. Mol. Struct. 403 (1997) 143] is used. In addition to the standard variables, it includes the average number of the H-bonds per molecule, which satisfies an equation of relaxation type. The clusterization effects are taken into account. To estimate the opto-mechanic coefficients, the formalism of structural functions [J. Struct. Chem. (Russia) 44 (2003) 1104] is applied. It is shown that the main changes in the polarized light scattering spectrum are caused by the contribution, generated by the H-bond subsystem. The temperature dependence of the Landau–Placzek ratio is analyzed. Good qualitative agreement with experimental data is found. q 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
