Abstract :
A novel double helix coordination polymer, [Cd(2,20-bpeec)I2]n (1) (2,20-bpeecZ3,6-bis[2-(2-pyridyl)ethenyl]-9-ethylcarbazole) has been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and luminescence spectra, single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the space group P21/c with aZ8.444(2), bZ23.126(4), cZ14.156(2), bZ97.927(2), ZZ4, VZ2737.8(7) A ° 3, mZ3.073 mmK1. The 2D framework of the title compound is formed by C–H/I hydrogen bonds and p–p interactions. The solid-state fluorescent analyses show that the compound exhibits a broad emission band at 547 nm. q 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
