Abstract :
A new mixed-valence hexadecavanadate H2[C(CH2OH)3NH3]0.5[Cd(phen)3] {[Cd(H2O)(phen)2]2(V16O38Cl)}0.5{[Cd(H2O)(phen)2]2(V16O39Cl)}0.5·2H2O (1) (phen=1, 10′-phenanthroline) has been synthesized under the hydrothermal conditions. Its structure was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P−1 with cell parameters of a=15.943(2) Å, b=17.744(2) Å, c=21.420(3) Å, α=82.955(2)°, β=79.479(2)°, γ=65.052(2)°, V=5394.3(12) Å3, Z=2. It exhibits an unusual 2D supramolecular layer in which dimers of organic small molecules act as connectors.
