Abstract :
The application of Raman microprobe is given for identification of natural, accessory minerals from pegmatites of the Sudety Mts (south-west Poland). Micro-Raman spectroscopy is also used by mineralogist to investigation of micro-areas inside zoned crystals and to determination of composition of solid inclusion inside the bigger objects. This method is non-destructive, easy as well as fast in use and also allows obtaining little information about elements composition. Natural minerals are heavy objects in Raman investigation, because they are not homogenous and contain many fractures. More than 60 crystals have been chosen to studies. The single-crystal polarized Raman spectra at room temperature of zircon, titanite, andalusite, topaz, beryl, cordierite, laumontite and stilbite are described in detail. Influence of later alternations of zircon is visible on Raman spectrum. The presence of water molecules in structure of studied beryl and cordierite is quickly discerned by Raman spectroscopy. Due to that it is possible to obtain precisely a content of alkalis and so called channel water.
