Abstract
This study presents a qualitative examination of the applicability
of several taxonomies of bibliographic relationships to sheet maps.
Examples of relationships between sheet maps are identified and
typed using the systems developed by Tillett and Smiraglia and
the taxonomy of relationships described in the Functional Requirements
for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) conceptual model and in
Resource Description and Access (RDA). This process reveals that
whilemany of the relationship categories in these systems apply well
to sheet maps, some are not applicable at all while others may apply
with some redefinition
