Abstract :
In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed for the rotary tiller power requirement based on the work done by a blade during the cutting and throwing the soil slice. In this model effect of different working parameters such as peripheral speed of blade, forward velocity of machine, working depth and working width are included. Influence of different kind of blades and different soils are considered in the model using two adjustable constants based on the experiments. Regarding the obtained results, the rotary tiller power requirement has a direct relationship with machine forward velocity, machine working width and the square of blades carrier shaft rotational speed. The model is finally compared with the theory of several researches. The proposed model can be used to estimate the power requirement of a given rotary tiller in the mechanization.
