The effectiveness of the logo therapy –based group counseling on reducing anxiety and increasing the life expectancy among mothers of the children of divorce

The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of logo therapy-based group counseling on reducing anxiety and improving life expectancy among divorced mothers. The present research is a semi experimental field study. First, using an accidental sampling method, 20 newly-divorced mothers (with a maximum one-year divorced life) were chosen from among 50 divorced women seeking help in counseling center in the city of Rey (sample size available). In the second phase, Those who scored the highest anxiety marks were selected to form the experimental group and control group. Each group involved 10 subjects. Then the experimental group received 11 one and half-hour logo therapybased group counseling. Following that, both control group and experimental group were tested by 2 questionnaires which were used as post tests: (1) 40-item Spielberger Anxiety Questionnaire which evaluates situational anxiety and (hidden) personality anxiety separately using two different 20-item questionnaires. (2) Hearth Expectancy Questionnaire which involves 30 four-option questions. The results showed that logo therapy-based group counseling had a meaningful impact on reducing both personality and situational anxiety and improving life expectancy among divorced mothers but also showed that employment had no meaningful impact on reducing anxiety among them. Regarding the benefits of logo therapy counseling technique in reducing anxiety level, the author suggests that this method be taught to divorced mothers beside other conventional methods regarding anxiety and mental health in Counseling Centers.
