Abstract :
We propose a technique that allows efficient simulation of fibers with a specific value of instantaneous polarization mode dispersion (PMD) at a given optical frequency. The proposed technique is rigorously indistinguishable in the statistical sense from applying the brute-force Monte Carlo method and then selecting the fibers whose PMD vector has the desired value. To demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed method, we calculate the probability density function of the differential group delay (DGD) conditioned on the value of the DGD at an offset frequency.
