Abstract
An optical frequency-shift-keying (FSK) transmitter based on an integrated distributed feedback laserelectroabsorption modulator is proposed and demonstrated. The feasibility of its application in optical labeling is also validated by the experimental results. The generated optical signal, consisting of a 10-Gb/s intensity-modulated payload and a 312-Mb/s FSK label, can be recovered error free after transmission over 88-km standard single-mode fiber.
