Abstract :
A model for the interaction between a fluid and an elastic membrane is discussed. The derived equations realize the physical phenomenon of driving a fluid through applying an outer force on the membrane. The problem was motivated by the study of the influence of heart contraction on blood flow. The resulting system of equations is solved numerically by a combination of variational and particle methods.
