Abstract :
An Enskog-like kinetic equation is assumed to govern the uniform shear flow (USF) in a dense granular fluid composed of rough spheres. The inelastic collisions between fluid particles are described by the classical stereodynamic impact model with constant restitution coefficient e and roughness coefficient β. The governing kinetic equation is solved numerically by a particle scheme. The one-particle distribution function of linear and angular particle velocities is obtained for different values of fluid density and particles interaction parameters e and β. The computed stress–strain relationships are compared to molecular dynamics data
