Abstract
A heuristic hypothesis is given for the colloidal glass transition on the basis of the theoretical analyses of experimental data from a unified viewpoint obtained recently by the present author. Three regions, a liquid region, a supercooled liquid region, and a glass region, are distinguished. No divergence of the α- and β-relaxation times is found at the glass transition, although the kinetic and thermodynamic-like properties of the colloidal liquid exhibit drastic changes in the supercooled region.
