Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to study the diversity of followership styles (containing exemplary, pragmatic, conformist and passive followers) in their job satisfaction, organizational affective commitment, and job involvement. The statistical population constitutes the employees of an industrial company (related to Oil and Gas affairs); out of which, a sample of 320 were selected using stratified random sampling method. The used tools were Kelley’s followership styles questionnaire (1992), job in general scale of Irsonson et al (1989), Allen and Meyer’s organizational commitment questionnaire (1991) and Edwards & Kilpatrick’s job involvement questionnaire (1984). The results showed a significant difference between various followers in their dependent variables (job satisfaction, organizational affective commitment, and job involvement. ). Moreover, the findings of follow-up test showed a much higher rate of job satisfaction and organizational affective commitment in exemplary followers than in other groups. So, it is important the organizations (especially in Iran) have Particular consideration about the followership styles of their employees (mainly excellent followers), in the process of recruitment, employment or their education.
