Abstract :
The aim of present research was to study and compare the mental health, happiness and immune system performance in depressive and normal women. The research method was expose factor. The sample comprised 30 women suffering from depression who were selected based on clinical interview, DSM-IV-TR criteria and Beck depression inventory (BDI). 30 normal women who were matched with regard to age, educational status, non-physical diseases and other criteria considered in this research, were also selected. The instruments were Oxford happiness inventory (OHI), GHQ-28 and immune essay of CD3, CD4, CD8, CD16, CD56 and lymphocyte response and PHA (LTT). The results showed that there was a significant difference between depressive and normal women in terms of happiness, mental health, and immune system (p < 0.001). However, the rate of happiness, mental health and immune systems in depressed women was assessed less than normal women. Furthermore, there was a positive relationship between mental health, happiness and immune system. What’s more, mental health and happiness increased the immune system, but the depression decreased the mental health, happiness and immune system. Overall, psychological mental factors have an important role in the mental health and immune system.
