Factoranalysis of barriers to participation in extension-education courses held by Ministry of Jihad-Keshavarzy (Agricultural Ministry): case of Sahnecounty in Kermanshah province

ABSTRACT:Agricultural development is essential for ensuring long-term economic growth in todays global economy. One way of agricultural development is providing education for rural people, but not everyone who needs agricultural education participates to it. If policies are to be developed to improve participation, then it is necessary to understand what these barriers are and how they will resolve. The present study attempts to investigate the effect of barriers to participation on agricultural education activities in Kermanshah (Sahne district). Statistical society in this study was 17000 individuals that not participate in the educational courses held by Ministry of Jihad-Keshavarzy of Sahne district.Thesample size was estimated by Morganʹs Table through a systematic random sampling method and it was 373. The result of factor analysis indicate that the factors such as individually, cultural, psychological, financial, institutional are barriers to participate in educational courses. This research shows that, distrust to Jihad Ministry, inconsistence ,mismatch with the needs of the villagers, lack of interest in agriculture are the most important barriers to participation on the agricultural education at the rural area.
