Abstract :
To evaluate the hybrid performance of corn seed and identifying traits that affect on the performance and grouping the hybrid based on some farming traits, the number of 15 late hybrid of corn were studied in a randomized complete block design with four replications in 2012 in Moghan.
During the growing season yield, yield components and some of morphological traits were measured and analyzed in addition to agricultural care. Results of analysis of simple variance showed that there statistically was significant difference among hybrids in terms of most traits. The mean comparison of hybrids showed that the highest grain yield was related to hybrids of 5, 15 and 6. Traits heritability’s of the number of grain rows per corn, number of inflorescence branches and days to peak period was high than other traits. These traits due to high general heritability were identified as the most important criterion for breeding programs. Most genetic variation coefficient was related to corn leaf area and number of branches of the inflorescences. Grain yield with yield traits and Stem diameter and depth as affecting variables were interred in to the model in stepwise regression analysis. Path analysis showed the highest direct effect on grain yield related to the trait of stem diameter and the lowest was related to the seed depth. Groupings of hybrids were evaluated based on the WARD and hybrids were placed in three separate groups.
