Abstract :
this paper looks towards the use of steelmaking slags as raw material in cement production. the results proved that steelmaking slags have the potential to work as raw material. hydration properties of the specimens were analyzed through compressive strength of specimens hydrated for 3 and 28 days. samples was blended with different percentages of iron slag as in the portland blast furnace cement, and compressive strengths of 7-10.5, 18-23.5 mpa were obtained after 3 and 28 days, respectively. both compositions reached acceptable early strengths, whereas, after 28 days hydration, the blend was superior to astm c595. as a result, this study confirmed successful production of portland cement from iron slag.
