Abstract :
Samples of dikanut and rubber seed shells were carbonized at varying temperatures (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 and 800oc) for three hours each and sieved through a 150µm screen. The portion of the dikanut and rubber seed shell carbon that was passed through the screen was characterized in terms of loss on ignition, PH, moisture content, bulk density and iodine adsorption number respectively. The characterization results show that PH, iodine adsorption number and loss on ignition increases with carbonization temperature, moisture content decreases, unlike bulk density which decreases and increases with carbonization temperature.
