Abstract :
Ground settlements induced by deep excavation are predicted by the analysis of soil-structure interaction, and the seismic response analyses of reinforced concrete buildings with settlements are performed based on the proposed analytical model. Also, the seismic response, the effect of variations in the material strengths of steel and concrete and settlement type are studied. It is found that the proposed analytical model can well be employed for such evaluation; normal variation in steel yield stress can significantly affect the roof displacements and modified flexural damage ratios of the example frame; the roof displacements with the settlement type of smooth asymptote are greater than those with concave downward asymptote.
