Abstract :
This paper shows that it is possible to use high accuracy convective interpolation schemes to compute multidimensional two-phase flows successfully, including accurate simulations of free surface flows. A code, POOL3D, has been developed which solves the equations of two-phase two-fluid flows using high accuracy convective interpolation schemes, a combination of bounded QUICKEST for the momentum equations and bounded SOU for the mass equations. Special attention is paid to the interpolations needed to compute the void fraction in staggered grids, which is a crucial issue for the accuracy of the free surface simulations. Numerical results are presented, first of a standard incompressible flow benchmark (steady lid-driven cavity) and then of a free surface benchmark (collapse of a water column).
