Abstract :
The present study is concerned with the application of Kalman filter with a recursive estimator to determine the input force of a mechanical grey-box model. The forces are estimated from the measured systematic responses by an inverse algorithm. Least-squares method with a recursive estimator is employed to update the estimation in the sense of real-time computation. The system identification technique constructs the system structure for a grey-box mechanical damping model before the force estimation is conducted. The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method are verified with laboratory tests. The input forces of a cantilever plate are estimated from the systematic responses that are measured at two distinct points. Two different types of input force are studied and the estimated results are very satisfactory. The merits of the input estimation with system identification approach are also manifested.
