Abstract :
Domain decomposition methods (DDM) constitute a family of high-performance solvers for large-scale problems of computational mechanics and of structural mechanics in particular. This paper compares popular DDM for structural analysis in both theory and computational performance, while it investigates the impact of enhanced mapping operators in their convergence behavior. Multiple right-hand side problems are considered, while standard and new DDM solution techniques for implicit dynamics are tested. The performed benchmark tests lead to useful conclusions regarding the comparative performance of the methods.
