Abstract :
In this contribution a yield function taking into account the hydrostatic stress state is incorporated into a finite deformation concept in order to simulate void growth typically observed in ductile damage. Thermodynamic consistency of the constitutive relations is discussed under the assumption of small elastic strains. Furthermore numerical aspects are addressed concerning the integration of the constitutive relations and the finite element equilibrium iteration. For illustrative purposes, two examples are presented, firstly, to compare the simulated results with experimental data for three types of quality plain carbon steels, and secondly, to simulate void growth evolution in a square plate with circular hole with the finite element method.
