Abstract :
Theeffectoftemperatureonmagnetitedissolutionandcorrosionbehaviorwasevaluatedinethylenediaminetetraaceticacid(EDTA)-basedsolventsforironoxidechemicalcleaningofnuclearsteamgeneratorsattemperaturesrangingfrom93to150°C.Magnetitedissolutionwasdrasticallyacceleratedasthetemperaturewasraisedto150°C,whiletheamountofcorrosionwascontrolledwellwithinanallowablelimit.PeriodicventingandexcessiveEDTAconcentrationinthesolventswereexpectedtobeveryeffectiveindissolvinghardtubesheetsludgepiles.Thelinearpolarization(LP)methodwasalsosuitabletomonitorthechangesofcorrosionratesandprocessconditionssuchasventing.
