  • Abstract
    Inthispaperweobtainnearthresholdfatiguecrackgrowth(FCG)dataforseveralcarbonsteelsandtype304stainlesssteelbytheKmax-constantmethod.SincetheFCGrateobtainedbytheKmax-constantmethodisconsideredtogivetheupperlimitoftheFCGdataobtainedbythestressratio-constantmethod,thisdatawascomparedwiththeFCGevaluationdiagramsgivenintheASMEandJapanSocietyofMechanicalEngineers(JSME)pressurevesselpost-constructioncodestoensuretheirvalidity.ThoughtheFCGrateforcarbonsteelS55CwassomewhataffectedbytheKmaxvalue,theresultsshowthattheobtainednearthresholdFCGdataisclosetotheupperboundoftheJSMEcodediagram,whichisanextrapolationoftheASMEFCGdiagramtothenearthresholdregion.
