Abstract
PARSOARprojectisoneofthescientificprojectsonhydrogenriskinnuclearpowerplantsco-sponsoredbytheEuropeanCommissionintheFifthEuratomFrameworkProgramandtheSwissgovernment.Itisoneofthecomponentsofthe“SafetyAccidentManagement”(SAM)clusterthatisfocusingonreviewofsevereaccidentrisksandondevelopmentofcountermeasuresfordefence-in-depth.Thefirstobjectiveistocarryoutastate-of-the-artonpassiveautocatalyticrecombiners(PAR)toconstituteadatabasehelpfulforthePAR-designers,nuclearpowerplantdesignersandutilities,andsafetyauthorities.Thesecondobjectiveistoelaborateahandbookguidethatdefinesanapproachforimplementingcatalyticrecombinersinnuclearpowerplants,andthatproposesrecommendedpracticestosupportthedetailedimplementationbyindividualnuclearactors.Thethirdobjectiveistoidentifytheneedsintermsofcomplementaryexperimentalqualificationorcomputercodedevelopmentsaboutthehydrogenriskinnuclearpowerplants.
