Abstract :
ThepapersummarisesinvolvementofNuclearResearchInstituteŘež(NRI)intheareaswhicharedirectlyrelatedtoReactorOperationalSafetyandPlantLifeManagement,italsogivesanideahowresultsoftheresearchprojectscanbeusedtoenhancesafetyofVVERreactors.Theseissuesareformanyyearssubjectofawideinternationalco-operationeffort,coveredbysuchprogrammesasPHARE,OECD/NEATACIS,5thFrameworkProgramme.
NuclearResearchInstituteparticipatedinthemajorityoftheseprogrammesandprojects,whichallowedustoevaluatebenefits(especiallyforVVERreactors)oftheprojectsalreadyfinalisedorrunning,aswellastoformulateso-called“futureresearchneeds”,whichpossiblymaybepursuedwithin6thFrameworkProgramme.
ThepaperhighlightsthemainfeaturesofsomeprojectsourInstitutewasandisinvolvedin,emphasisingthemostimportantresults,expectationsandfutureneeds.Italsoverybriefly,dealswithsomegeneralandparticularlessonslearntwithintheseprojectsandtheirapplicationtoVVERreactors,especiallyastotheirsafetyimprovement.
ThepaperalsomentionsVVER-focusedprojectsandactivities,co-ordinatedbytheOECD,whichshouldenabletoextendmultilateralcontactsalreadyexistingbetweenorganisationsoftheEUcountriestoincludeorganisationsfromRussia,USA,Japanandpossiblysomeo
