Abstract :
Aone-dimensionaltwo-fluidmodelwithexplicitmomentumfluxparametersisproposedasaremedyforthemathematicalill-posednessofthestandardone-dimensionaltwo-fluidmodel.Byconstructingasimplifiedtwo-phaseflowusingexistingcorrelationsforthedistributionparameterCoandvelocityprofile,themomentumfluxparameterisdeterminedasafunctionofvoidfractionanddensityratioforthewholerangeofflowregime.Byperformingalinearstabilityanalysisforatwo-phaseflowinachanneldescribedbytheproposedmodel,ananalyticalexpressionforthegrowthfactorisderivedasafunctionofwavenumber,voidfraction,dragcoefficient,andrelativevelocity.Fromtheanalyticalexpressionforthegrowthfactor,thestabilitycriteriaarederivedasafunctionofvoidfaction,densityratio,andmomentumfluxparameters.Itisshownthatthetwo-phaseflowinachanneldescribedbytheproposedmodelisstableinthewholerangeofflowregime.
