Abstract :
Thedesignofaphysicalmodelofthepowerconversioncycleofthepebblebedmodularreactor(PBMR)withtheaidofthecodeFlownetisdiscussedinthispaper.ThepurposeofthephysicalmodelistodemonstratethecontrolstrategiesandoperatingproceduresofthePBMRandalsotodemonstratetheaccuracyofthesimulationcodeFlownet.Flownetisfirstusedtodocomponentmatchingandtodeterminethedetailedsteady-stateperformanceofthesystem.Itisthendemonstratedhowthecodewasusedtosimulatethestart-upprocedureaswellasaloadfollowingandaloadrejectionscenario.Thestudydemonstrateshowamicroturbinesystemcanbedesignedwiththeaidofapowerfulsimulationtoolinarelativelyshortperiodoftimeatlowcostusingcommerciallyavailableturbochargers.
