Abstract :
nthecaseofaHypotheticalCoreDisruptiveAccident(HCDA)inaLiquidMetalFastBreederReactor,itisassumedthatthecoreofthenuclearreactorhasmeltedpartiallyandthatthechemicalinteractionbetweenmoltenfuelandliquidsodiumhascreatedahigh-pressuregasbubbleinthecore.Theviolentexpansionofthisbubbleloadsanddeformsthereactorvesselandtheinternalstructures,thusendangeringthesafetyofthenuclearplant.
TheMARA10experimentaltestsimulatesaHCDAina1/30-scalemock-upschematisingareactorblock.Inthemock-up,theliquidsodiumcoolingthereactorcoreisreplacedbywaterandtheargonblanketlayingbelowthereactorroofissimulatedbyanairblanket.Theexplosionistriggeredbyanexplosivecharge.
ThispaperpresentsanumericalsimulationofthetestwiththeEUROPLEXUScodeandananalysisofthecomputedresults.Inparticular,theevolutionofthefluidflowsandthedeformationsoftheinternalandexternalstructuresareanalysedindetail.Finally,thecurrentcomputedresultsarecomparedwiththeexperimentalonesandwithpreviousnumericalresultscomputedwiththeSIRIUSandCASTEM-PLEXUScodes.
