  • Abstract
    Theincreaseofsteamparameterstosupercriticalconditionscouldreducethepowergeneratingcostsoflightwaterreactorssignificantly[ProceedingsofSCR-2000(2000)1].Coreassemblies,however,willdifferfromcurrentBWRorPWRdesign.Inthiscontext,thispapersummarizesthemainresultsrelatedtoathermal-hydraulicdesignanalysisofapplicablefuelassemblies.Startingfromathoroughliteraturesurveyonheattransferofsupercriticalfluids,thecurrentstatusindicatesalargedeficiencyinthepredictionoftheheattransfercoefficientunderreactorprototypicalconditions.Forthethermal-hydraulicdesignofsuchfuelassembliesthesub-channelanalysiscodeSub-channelThermal-hydraulicAnalysisinFuelAssembliesunderSupercriticalconditions(STAFAS)hasbeendeveloped,whichwillhaveahighernumericalefficiencycomparedtotheconventionalsub-channelanalysiscodes.Theeffectofseveraldesignparametersonthethermal-hydraulicbehaviourinsub-channelshasbeeninvestigated.Basedontheresultsachievedsofar,twofuelassemblyconfigurationsarerecommendedforfurtherdesignanalysis,i.e.atightsquarelatticeandasemi-tighthexagonallattice.
