Abstract
Copperdissolutionandelectrochemicalbehaviorhavebeeninvestigatedinordertofindoutwhichparametersarecriticalandimportantduringthetwomajorcopperremovalprocessesforchemicalcleaningofnuclearsteamgeneratorandtoevaluatesafetyaspectsandeffectivenessoftheseprocesses.HydrogenperoxidewasveryeffectivefortheprocessusingEDTA-basedsolutionat38°Ctocontrolthecorrosionpotentialofcopperintoanoptimumpotentialrangefrom−0.3to+0.2Vforcoppersludgedissolution.CorrosionratesofcarbonsteelSA285Gr.CandAlloy600wereverysmallinthispotentialrange.TheprocessusingEDA-basedsolutionat60°Cwaseffectivetodissolvecoppersludgeifthecorrosionpotentialofcoppercouldbecontrolledabove−0.3V.However,itwasverydifficultunderthelaboratoryconditionstoraiseitscorrosionpotentialtothisrangebyairblowingandstirring.
