Abstract :
Nuclearreactorcontainers,withoutinnerliners,mustwithstandinternalpressurizationwithminimalleaktotheoutsidethroughthecracks.Thispaperreportsona3Dfiniteelement(FE)simulationofaprestressednuclearreactorcontainerringsubjectedtointernalpressure.Discretecracksareused,andtheeffectofcracksurfacepressurizationoncrackopeningsisinvestigated. Itisshownthatthediscretecrackmodelcanprovideasuitablealternativetothesmearedcrackone,andthatfortheselectedring,theeffectofadditionalcrackpressurizationisminimal
