  • Abstract
    Theidentificationoftransientsisoffundamentalimportanceforthetimelymonitoringofnuclearplantsoperation.Themaintargetisdetectingtheoccurrenceoftheonsetofatransient,initsearlystages,andidentifyingitskindsoastobeabletoreadilyacttofixitscauses.Giventhesafetyandeconomicalimportanceoftheproblem,variousapproacheshavebeeninvestigatedandappliedfortransientidentification,andmanyeffortsarestilldevotedtotheimprovementoftheresultssofarobtained. Inthispaper,afuzzy-logicbasedmethodfortheidentificationoftransientsisproposed.Themethodis‘model-free’inthattheif-thenrules,whichconstitutetheheartoftheapproach,areinferredonlyfromtheavailableinput-outputsignaldata.Themethodistestedonanexampleofidentificationofreactortransientsgeneratedbyfourforcingfunctionsofdifferentnature.ThenecessarydatafortheidentificationhavebeensimulatedbytheQUAndry-basedReactorKineticscode(QUARK,distributedfreelybyNEA)configuredsoastomodeltheoperationsoftheWestinghouseAdvancedPressurizedwaterreactor,AP600.
